Architectural tours with a profile

Cologne with its new harbor area – the so called Rheinauhafen – is not only one of the „44 Places to go in 2009“ in the New York Times ranking. Also if you are not a hot spot hunter and more focused on contemporary architecture you will find a high density of your desired objects: Peter Zumthor’s archiepiscopal museum, Renzo Piano’s “Metropolitan House,” Hadi Teherani’s “Crane Houses,” to name only a few of them.

If you don’t feel like joining the typical tourist office guided tour, Archipedes is the alternative. Archipedes is about getting an understanding of Cologne's contemporary architecture. We are architects, designers, art historians, and city planners, who love to talk about our work and that of other’s of course as well. We show you our biggest prides in modern buildings and try to unpack the mysteries of Cologne’s building industry (as far as we ourselves see through them).

Whether simply engaging people in a dialogue with architecture and with one another or guiding focused research groups: if you are interested in tours in English or Spanish, contact us for our customized programs. You can choose if you want to do a walking trip, a boat tour, an “archi-taxi” trip or if you’d better hire a helicopter right away!
